How far in advance do I need to schedule collection of my flower donation?

We recommend giving 2 weeks’ notice so we have time to coordinate with our volunteers and the receiving facility, however, we can accommodate pick up of your flower donation with as little as 48 hours notice in many circumstances. Please contact us to discuss your particular needs.

Is there a fee charged for pick up or delivery of flowers?

No, however, donations to Blooms From The Heart to help support our 100% volunteer run organization are always welcome and appreciated! Please feel free to make a donation today!

Is there a minimum amount of flowers I can donate?

In order to minimize the operating costs of this 100% volunteer run and donor funded organization, we request the flowers being donated be sufficient to create at least 15 individual arrangements.

In what condition do the donated flowers need to be?

We would like the flowers to be in the freshest condition possible with no less than 4 days of healthy life remaining.

Is my flower or other donation tax deductible?

Blooms From The Heart is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Corporation funded by the generosity of others. Donations are deductible to the fullest extent permitted by the IRS. Please consult your tax professional for advice regarding the deductibility of your specific donation.

How are flowers collected?

For flowers from events, our volunteers pick up the flowers from either the event location or event planner’s or floral designer’s place of business the day following the event. Flowers donated by a business are picked up at the business location on a pre-determined schedule. Alternatively, flowers may be dropped off at the Blooms From The Heart staging center. Please contact us to arrange your flower pick up details.

How do you decide where the repurposed arrangements will be delivered?

Blooms From The Heart maintains listings of San Diego area hospitals, hospice centers, skilled nursing facilities, senior centers, homeless shelters and other in need facilities. Our goal is to have a wide distribution across San Diego with a focus on those communities most in need.

Can I choose to which facility the flowers I donated are delivered?

Yes. We are happy to work with you to accommodate your request whenever feasible.

Besides monetary donations, what other types of donations do you accept?

We are happy to accept donations of all types of floral containers including vases, bowls, mugs, and glasses. We also accept floral and craft supplies such as floral foam and ribbon. Please contact us today if you are interested in donating any items.
